Upward’s design team assisted Community Health Care, based in Tacoma, Washington, with a renovation of their recently acquired Key Health Center. Originally constructed as a rural physician’s private clinic, CHC’s healthcare model required several program changes to the existing building, including addition of a pharmacy, renovation of nursing stations to reflect modern practice, updated reception spaces, a new covered entry for emergency patient transport, installation of a backup generator, and conversion of paper chart storage rooms into a secure pharmaceutical storage space. Upward’s team also provided project management services, including project budgeting, general contractor bid solicitation and contract management. SAZAN Group was the MEP Engineer and Abbott Construction was the General Contractor for the project.
