Located in Federal Way, Upward Architecture worked on this home renovation and addition to update an existing waterfront property to fit the needs of the new owners. Reworking the main floor plan, the entry was rearranged to create a welcoming overhead trellis. From refinishing the interiors, opening the kitchen/dining and living spaces, exposing a central staircase, and adding a large deck, the main living level becomes more cohesive and emphasizes views of the Puget Sound. The existing unfinished basement is transformed by adding a utility laundry room, a family room, an office space and a gracious storage room. With the desire for a owner’s bedroom facing Puget Sound, with an en suite bath, the basement extends beneath the new deck with an indoor outdoor experience to a new patio hot tub area.
