Located in Seattle’s Pioneer Square Historic District, the Historic Fire Station Headquarters was slated to be sold by the City of Seattle who still houses Fire Department staff in the building. Mark worked with a group of potential purchasers to determine the highest and best use of the property and to identify best practices for navigating the complex historic preservation regulatory landscape within the Pioneer Square Historic District.
Proposed uses in the repositioned property included apartments, offices, rooftop deck, and gymnasium for use by building tenants. The ground floor firetruck bays were to be purposed as restaurants, including a central wood-fired pizza oven to pay homage to the building’s original purpose. The work was completed while Mark was a founding principal at Urbanadd.
