Sited next to the Silver Fir chairlift at the Summit at Snoqualmie Ski Resort, the Silver Fir Lodge provides skiers and snowboarders with retail, rental and food services. While the rest of the mountain is oriented towards families and children, the Silver Fir lift and lodge attracts an older clientele and the design of the Lodge reflects that shift in audience.
An apres-ski lounge occupies the tallest corner, rewarding guests with commanding views of the Cascade Mountain Range. The main dining hall is constructed of massive glue-laminated timber beams to support the substantial Pacific Northwest snow loads. The lower level of the building houses retail and rental facilities and a bag-lunch dining room. Mark collaborated with Ryan Rhodes Designs while he was a founding principal at Urbanadd on the building design, and the building was constructed on a modest budget by the resort’s in-house construction crews.
